He's basically describing a tuplespace. Or if you wish, the primary
difference between a message bus and a tuplespace is persistence.
There are a fairly large number of Open Source tuplespaces about, most
in Java, but most if not all are pretty unremarkable if not not
downright fragile and/or cranky. This may be about to change.
Scientific Computing Associates are currently under contract to produce
a commercial quality Open Source tuplespace implementation in the next
months. Undoubtedly this will be a derivative of their well respected
Paradise product.
