[Spread-users] API Request

The API has a method for printing out the text for an
error condition.  I would prefer it to return a
pointer to the error string so I can format a message.
 My system(s) have a certain log file format and there
is no public interface for changing the format of
SP_error() output.  I know I could manually make the
alarm api available but I'd rather have the public API
provide it.
