[Spread-users] -fPIC

Hi 

Im trying to linkin the libspread.a file however I get the error message 

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libspread.a(sp.to): relocation R_X86_64_32S against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
im compling on centos 5.2
anyone know what i need to change in spread to make it linkable
