[Spread-users] Configure script

I'm not really familiar with cygwin, but I think you are going to run into problems like this one where on *nix / autoconf platforms we expect certain header files to exist and be necessary to compile that are different on windows / non-autoconf platforms.

Like I said, I don't think our autoconf scripts were set up to handle a non-*nix but autoconf environment like you might have with cygwin.  I could be wrong, but that is my hunch atm.
