[Spread-users] SpreadModule support?

Is there any purpose to spread.MembershipMsgType.group_id?

I can't see any place where it's consumed.  It's produced, compared, 
allocated, and deallocated.  But I can't see anything that actually uses it.

It came to my attention because trying to serialize it with pyyaml 
causes a python core dump, which is fair enough since yaml can't 
introspect that opaque type.
