[Spread-users] Mingw support

I had some patches for the 3.7 series of spread that made it build
using the mingw support of cygwin.  This permitted the creation of
Excel DLLs using the familiar and cross-platform gcc tool chains.

However, the 4.0 series has reworked the libraries heavily and
cross compilation using mingw appears to be a lot more complicated.

Before I wade into this, has anyone done this or have any tips?
