Hi,
I am testing Spread performance on a 100 Mbits network.
In a experiment I run Spread on 4 computers; on 3 computers a receiving
application joins a group, on the remaining compunter an applications sends
1920 messages of 2000 bytes per second (constant rate of 30.72 Mbps!) to
that group.
All computer clocks are accurately syncronized. In this experiment I have
measured 2.5 ms of average message latency.
In another experiment I run Spread on 16 computers; on 15 computers a
receiving application joins a group, on the remaining compunter an
applications sends messages to that group. All computer clocks are
accurately syncronized. In this experiment I have measured the following
average message latency:
Msg size (bytes) Msg/Sec Average Latency Rate
1000 62 20 ms 496 Kbps
1000 300 120 ms 2.4 Mbps
1000 620 250 ms 4.96 Mbps
1000 1500 550 ms 12 Mbps
>From the measures it results that increasing the computer number the average
latency grows up.
Did anyone experience my same problem?
Is this the normal Spread behaviour?
Is there a configuration error ?
I am using the following multicast Spread configuration:
Spread_Segment 224.0.55.54:31001 {
WIXPWKS08 10.15.20.38
wi2kserver07 10.15.20.124

Wi2kwks05 10.15.20.237

WIXPWKS01 10.15.20.165
WI2KWKS03 10.15.20.228
WIXPWKS03 10.15.20.35
WI2KWKS10 10.15.20.41
Wi2kwks07 10.15.20.200
Wi2kwks08 10.15.20.47
WI2KWKS01 10.15.20.165
}
The spmonitor ouput concerning the sending Spread follows.
Thanks,
Massimo.
