Hi,

I wanted to congratulate Ryan Caudy, an avid Spread contributor
over the last few years, for graduating with a Masters degree
from Johns Hopkins last week.

Ryan was a valuable member of the Center for Networking and
Distributed Systems at Hopkins for several years and is now
a valuable alum :)

In addition to his Spread work he is also a creator of the
Wackamole NxWay Failover tool for servers and routers.

His MS project "Scalable Process Group Membership for the Spread
Toolkit" might interest this list. You can get it off my web page
below or directly from: http://www.cnds.jhu.edu/~yairamir/Caudy_project.pdf

Over the years, several people put some effort into making the group
membership scalable and there are already some that use Spread with
relatively large number of active groups. Ryan's work takes it to another
level. I expect the code described in the report to become part of the
toolkit in the next version. It is already accessible from CVS.

Cheers,

       :) Yair. http://www.cs.jhu.edu/~yairamir
