hi folks

i was reading through the user's guide and using spmonitor to take a
look at the spread daemons i have in my environment...

in particular, the section of the manual that explains the output of
status updates for daemons mentions that a large number of
retransmissions is a bad thing...

here is my current status:
============================
Status at alservice1 V 3.17. 2 (state 1, gstate 1) after 356413 seconds

u retrans:   30430      s retrans :       0     b retrans  :     302

Delta Mes: 1971 Delta Pack: 2265 Delta sec : 10
==================================

the number of retrans, 30732, seems high but then so does the number of
sent packets and other such things...

what is truly considered "high" for retransmissions? should it be
expressed as a percentage of sent/recv packets instead of just a number?
